Water Services acknowledges recent concerns raised in media reports regarding traces of antiretroviral compounds in South Africa’s water sources and their potential link to drinking water.
We wish to reassure residents that while Rand Water supplies treated bulk water to Mogale City, our Water Services Division conducts regular, independent water quality monitoring to ensure full compliance with the South African National Standard (SANS) 241:2015 for drinking water.
To date, all drinking water samples tested have consistently met safety standards and pose no health risk, confirming that our tap water remains safe to drink. In addition, regular Water Quality Review Meetings are held between Rand Water and Mogale City’s Water Services to uphold the highest standards of water safety and quality.
