Mogale City has taken another significant step in strengthening international relations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Neijiang City in the People’s Republic of China.

Signed yesterday, the agreement establishes formal cooperation between the two municipalities and sets the stage for collaboration in trade, investment, culture and urban development.

The MoU follows a successful visit earlier this year by a high-level delegation to Mogale City, where both parties explored opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and the rehabilitation of mining areas. The engagement also focused on leveraging each city’s strengths to advance shared growth and development.

Located in southeastern Sichuan Province, Neijiang is a key industrial and cultural hub within the Chengdu–Chongqing economic corridor. Historically known as the “Sugar Capital of Sichuan” the city today boasts thriving industries in food processing, electronics, and logistics. Its strategic location and well-developed infrastructure make it a vital link between major Chinese cities and an important centre for trade and production.

This partnership builds on Mogale City’s growing international footprint, following recent collaborations with Nanjing City that created new opportunities for skills development through the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority.

During the visit, Mogale City also hosted representatives from the Neijiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone, a state-level industrial area driving innovation in high-tech manufacturing, e-commerce, and logistics. With its dynamic economic base, Neijiang offers expertise and market access that align closely with Mogale City’s economic growth and investment promotion goals.
