Following the successful completion of scheduled maintenance at Rand Water’s Eikenhof Booster Pumping Station in May 2026, Rand Water and Eskom will now proceed with Phase 2 of the planned infrastructure maintenance programme.

The maintenance is scheduled to commence at 07h00 on Friday, 17 July 2026, and conclude at 19h00 on Sunday, 19 July 2026.

Key activities to be undertaken during this period include:

  • Eskom-related electrical maintenance at the Zuikerbosch Water Purification Plant; and
  • Completion of cross-connections from existing pipelines to newly installed pipelines.

As a result of these activities, the Eikenhof System pumping capacity will be reduced to 55% (600 ML/day) for the duration of the maintenance period.

This reduction in pumping capacity may result in low water pressure or intermittent water supply in some parts of Mogale City, depending on reservoir levels and water consumption patterns.

Although minimal impact was experienced during Phase 1 of the maintenance programme, the municipality’s Water Services team has a contingency plan in place to mitigate the potential effects of Phase 2 and optimise storage capacity before, during, and after the maintenance period. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact on residents and businesses.

Residents and businesses are nevertheless encouraged to prepare in advance for possible water supply interruptions and to use water sparingly during the maintenance period.

The municipality will continue to provide updates as necessary.
