The municipality will on Monday, 12 October 2026 launch a city-wide Meter Audit Programme as part of its ongoing revenue enhancement and data cleansing initiatives.

The programme aims to verify customer and meter information, identify discrepancies and update municipal records to ensure that water and electricity consumption points are accurately recorded and billed.

The audit will cover residential, business and bulk water and electricity meters across Mogale City. Precise records are essential for reliable billing, effective revenue management and ensuring that customers are billed correctly for the services they consume.

A dedicated team of 10 field workers will conduct the audits, spending approximately one week in each ward before moving to the next. Residents will be notified in advance of planned activities in their wards to allow them to make the necessary arrangements for access to their properties.

To help residents identify the audit teams and verify their legitimacy, all field workers will:

  • Travel in clearly branded Ntiyiso vehicles
  • Wear reflective identification jackets
  • Carry official identification and name tags at all times, and
  • Be introduced to communities through the municipality’s official social media platforms, with their names and photographs shared in advance.                               Ward councillors will also assist in introducing the teams to their communities

Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the audit teams by providing access to water and electricity meters where required. For their safety and peace of mind, residents who are uncertain about the identity of an audit team member are advised to verify their credentials with the municipality before granting access to their properties.

Ward schedules, verification arrangements and further information about the programme will be communicated through the municipality’s official communication channels and via ward councillors.

The municipality thanks residents for their cooperation and support in ensuring accurate municipal records and fair, efficient billing.
