Energy Services is currently rolling out the Prepaid Smart Electricity Metering Project, which officially launched in July 2025. This initiative is a major step towards modernizing electricity across the city.
What you need to know:
- The rollout applies only to areas where electricity is supplied by the municipality.
- Communities supplied directly by Eskom will not be part of this rollout.
- Only prepaid electricity meters will be replaced with smart meters.
Your local councillor will communicate directly with your community regarding the scheduled audit and installation dates in your area.
