Mogale City has strengthened its tourism and economic cooperation with Wuyi County in Zhejiang Province, People’s Republic of China, following the signing of an addendum to an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at creating new opportunities for economic development in the city.
With the city’s economy growing at an average rate of 2.6% over the last five-year period, attracting investment remains important to accelerating economic growth and fostering an environment that supports job creation and the growth of local businesses.
Through the new addendum, the municipality intends to strengthen cooperation in the culture and tourism sectors by leveraging the respective resources, expertise and strengths of both localities.
The collaboration will focus on areas such as talent development, market promotion, information exchange and industrial linkages, thereby opening new avenues for tourism development.
The agreement builds on an MOU signed by the two parties last year, which established a framework for friendly exchanges and economic and trade cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit. It also provided for cooperation in areas including science and technology, culture, sports and health.
During the engagements, the municipality also highlighted other key investment opportunities in Mogale City, including mining, manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, as well as the informal and township economy, as strategic areas that Wuyi County can consider for investment and development.
The Wuyi County delegation also visited the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, providing an opportunity to experience one of Mogale City’s key tourism assets and gain insight into the city’s tourism potential.
