Mogale City’s Energy Services wishes to inform all affected electricity customers that, following the public participation process conducted as part of the approval of the 2026/27 electricity tariffs, certain customer categories will transition from flat-rate tariffs to Flexi-Time (Time-of-Use) tariffs, effective from electricity consumption recorded from July 2026.

The affected customer categories are:

  • Commercial Medium
  • Commercial Large
  • Industrial Medium
  • Industrial Large

During the public participation meetings, the municipality advised stakeholders of its intention to implement these tariff changes, which have subsequently been approved by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) as part of the municipality’s 2026/27 electricity tariff structure.

This statement serves as formal notification to all affected customers that the municipality will commence the implementation of the approved Flexi-Time tariffs from July 2026. Customers in the above tariff categories will therefore be billed in accordance with the approved Flexi-Time tariff structure for electricity consumed from this period onwards.

The implementation of the Flexi-Time tariffs is intended to promote more efficient electricity consumption while aligning the municipality’s tariff structure with Eskom’s recently implemented Time-of-Use tariffs. The revised tariff structure encourages customers to shift electricity consumption away from peak demand periods to standard and off-peak periods where possible. This approach supports more efficient management of the electricity network, reduces pressure on the grid during peak periods, and ensures that the municipality’s electricity tariffs more accurately reflect the cost of purchasing bulk electricity from Eskom.

Affected customers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the applicable Flexi-Time tariff structure and peak, standard, and off-peak periods. Energy Services officials will be available to provide further information and assistance where required.

The municipality appreciates the cooperation of its customers and remains committed to providing transparent communication regarding changes that affect municipal services.
