October has been a significant month for Mogale City, with developments that reflect our commitment to taking services closer to communities, strengthening our local economy and investing in the future of our municipality.
Our High Impact Service Delivery Programme took municipal services to Hekpoort and Magaliesburg, ensuring that residents in our rural communities have an opportunity to engage directly with the municipality and access essential services. We are equally committed to supporting organisations that make a difference at community level. Qualifying organisations are encouraged to apply for Grant-in-Aid funding before the closing date of 9 December 2026.
Education remains central to the future we want to build. As the Matric Class of 2026 begins the National Senior Certificate examinations, we wish all our learners strength and success. We also reaffirmed our support for education through the school-shoe handover at Tsholotsega Primary School. Supporting our children, particularly those facing financial difficulties, is an investment in their future and in the future of our communities.
One of the biggest highlights of this month is the grand opening of Leratong City Mall in Kagiso. This is an important development not only for Kagiso but for Mogale City as a whole. As part of the broader Leratong Smart City Development, the mall brings new retail facilities and economic activity to an area with significant growth potential. It also creates opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and further private-sector investment. Our responsibility is to ensure that local businesses and residents are part of this growth and benefit from the opportunities that come with it.
Another important milestone is the unveiling of the redeveloped Civic Centre, marking the first phase of our CBD rejuvenation programme. We want to see a renewed Krugersdorp CBD that attracts investment, supports businesses and provides a better environment for residents and visitors. The CoGTA-CSIR water solution pilot is also a welcome step towards improving how we monitor and manage our water infrastructure, using technology and partnerships to strengthen service delivery.
As we mark Mental Health Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let us remember that building a better city also means caring for the health and well-being of its people. Awareness, early detection and support can make a meaningful difference.
As we close off October and look ahead to November, I also want to remind all residents that 4 November 2026 is voting day. Every registered voter is encouraged to make use of this important opportunity to participate in our democracy and exercise their right to vote. Your voice matters, and participation is an important part of shaping the future of our communities. Make your mark, make your voice count!
The progress we celebrate this month is part of a much bigger journey. There is still work to be done, and building a better Mogale City requires the participation and contribution of all of us.
