November in our City has been marked by a strong focus on inclusion, partnerships and impactful service delivery. As the country observed Disability Rights Awareness Month, the municipality amplified its message of accessibility, dignity and equal participation. This month’s activities build up to the prestigious Disability Excellence Awards scheduled for 9 December, where we will honour individuals and organisations championing inclusivity across all sectors of our society.
Strengthening community well-being remained central, with the city partnering with the Motsepe Foundation for the #ChristmasWithOurPeople Toy Drive. Through this collaboration, 3 000 toys were distributed to children across Mogale City, ensuring that the festive season brings joy and recognition to every young resident. The initiative highlights the collective responsibility we carry to make each child feel valued during this special time of year.
On an international note, South Africa’s hosting of the G20 Summit brought global attention to our nation, with Mogale City welcoming various delegates throughout the period. Their presence reaffirmed the City’s growing appeal as both a tourism and investment destination. Local hospitality establishments, heritage sites and tourism routes benefited from increased visibility, signalling positive prospects for the sector’s growth.
The month concluded with a practical demonstration of strong intergovernmental relations. The Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Ms Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, led the Roads and Transport Maintenance Launch along Magalies Road, reinforcing government’s coordinated approach to infrastructure improvement. This intervention aligns with the G13 service delivery priorities, ensuring that communities benefit directly from targeted road maintenance and improved mobility.
As we close November, Mogale City remains committed to building a caring, inclusive and service-focused municipality – one that continues to place people, partnerships and delivery at the heart of local governance.
