We open the first edition of Dikgang tsa Mogale 2026 with renewed energy & a clear sense of purpose. The year began on a positive trajectory, signalling a city that is focused on delivery, accountability, and opportunity.
We extend our congratulations to the Class of 2025 on their matric performance. Your resilience & commitment reflect the promise of a brighter future for Mogale City.
Service delivery remains at the centre of our work. The Service Delivery Intervention Programme in Swanneville, implemented in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Roads & Transport, continues to address long-standing infrastructure challenges, particularly road rehabilitation. This collaboration highlights the value of coordinated intergovernmental action in restoring dignity & improving everyday living conditions for our communities. A range of services are provided by the municipality and various government departments – keep a look out for us in your area soon.
Through our Back-to-School Programme, the municipality reached schools across the city, providing learners with school shoes, dignity packs & MCLM branded school bags. These interventions speak directly to our commitment to supporting education, dignity, & equal access to learning.
From a governance & financial management perspective, Mogale City recorded a significant milestone. The Auditor-General of South Africa has once again issued the municipality with an unqualified audit opinion, with audit findings reduced from ten (10) to four (4). Furthermore the municipality achieved 76% of its basic service delivery objectives, demonstrating progress which acknowledging that there is still room for improvement. This progress reflects improved internal controls, strengthened oversight and a firm commitment to compliance and accountability.
In advancing youth development, the Executive Mayor’s Bursary Programme closed on the 23 January 2026, opening doors to further education opportunities. We also concluded the month with selected young entrepreneurs travelling to China through a collaboration with LGSETA, equipping them with critical skills in market expansion and business management to compete beyond local borders.
Indeed, 2026 has started well, & there is much more to come as we continue building a capable, inclusive, & forward-looking Mogale City.
Executive Mayor of Mogale City
