Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma yesterday announced that the 2021 local government elections will be held on 1 November. Briefing the media, Dlamini-Zuma said the election date will officially be gazetted on 20 September to allow citizens enough time to register for the polls.
In preparation of the upcoming elections, the Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the voter registration weekend for the 18 and 19 September 2021 where eligible citizens will be able to register and update their details at voting stations across the country ahead of the election date.
