Learners at Maloney’s Eye Primary Farm School were placed at the centre of environmental action on Monday, 26 January 2026, as World Environmental Education Day was commemorated in Magaliesburg.
The programme engaged learners in practical, age-appropriate environmental education activities focused on caring for the environment and adopting sustainable habits both at school and at home. Through interactive discussions, learners were encouraged to understand environmental challenges and their role in contributing to solutions that support a healthier, more sustainable future.
In support of learner wellbeing and dignity, Grade 6 and Grade 7 learners received dignity packs, aimed at boosting confidence and creating a supportive learning environment. The school also received four 240-litre recycling bins to promote waste separation at source and reinforce recycling practices within the school community.
The celebration highlighted the importance of equipping learners with the knowledge, values and skills needed to become environmentally conscious citizens, while also strengthening collaboration between environmental stakeholders and educational institutions.
By combining education, dignity support and practical environmental tools, the initiative underscored a shared commitment to building an informed, responsible and environmentally aware generation.
