In a significant step towards integration and equitable service delivery, Mogale City Executive Mayor Lucky Sele officially switched on electricity in Hekpoort Flora Port and Portion 149 on Friday, 21 February 2025.
This electrification project, which provides 140 households with power, reflects the city’s commitment to addressing historical inequalities and ensuring access to essential services for all residents.
Hekpoort and Portion 149 are home to historically disadvantaged farmers who have long faced marginalisation and limited access to basic services, including electricity. The successful completion of this initiative was made possible through collaboration between Mogale City, Eskom, and the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Sele emphasized the importance of inclusive development, stating, “True leadership is demonstrated by those who prioritise the needs of all citizens, not just those in affluent areas.” This project not only brings electricity to homes but also reinforces the city’s mission to extend service delivery to underserved communities.
Mogale City remains dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all its residents, ensuring that essential services are provided fairly and efficiently, as enshrined in the Constitution.
