Water Services wishes to inform residents that the Emfuleni substation, which supplies power to the Rand Water Vereeniging Treatment Works, experienced a power failure on Tuesday, 11 February 2025.
As a result the Eikenhof pumping station, which supplies water to the Mogale City reservoirs is operating at a reduced capacity. At this stage, we are unable to provide an estimated restoration time. However, feedback from Rand Water indicates that the Emfuleni team is working to resolve the failure.
During this period the following areas may experience water shortages or low pressure:
Kagiso, Kagiso Ext 12 & 13, Munsieville, Featherbrooke, Ruimsig, Rangeview, Swanieville, Azaadville, Krugersdorp West, Delporton, Tarlton, West Village, Pine Haven, Monument, Kenmare, Factoria, Lewishan, Luipaardsvlei and possibly surrounding areas. Kagiso for example is already impacted, as the supplying reservoir has been switched off due to no water availability. Meanwhile, reservoirs in other areas will continue to supply water until the stored capacity is depleted, if required.
Whilst we urge residents to use water sparingly until the situation normalises, the Water team will monitor the situation and deploy tankers to areas that are most affected by the interruption i.e. in co-ordination with the relevant ward councilors.
