Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi, accompanied by Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Tasneem Motara and Mogale City Executive Mayor Cllr Lucky Sele visited Soul City Informal settlement to assess progress made on the alternative sanitation project.
The visit aimed to introduce the innovative sanitation device, highlighting its implication for sanitation improvement and the myriad benefits it offers to the local community where sewer disposal has become an eyesore in Mogale’s Soul City.
To date, 400 toilets have been fitted and are ready for use in the area. The contractor also showcased a specialised variant of toilets designed specifically for individuals with disability, emphasising the project’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
This initiative is a vital step towards enhancing the quality of life for residents of Soul City and underscores government’s ongoing commitment to addressing urgent sanitation and hygiene challenges in communities.
