Residents are hereby informed that as of 1 December 2024, municipal waste collection teams will no longer remove any refuse bags, or any other items that are not inside 240l wheelie bins.
This decision was taken to safeguard the health and safety of our personnel, as handling such bags has contributed to injuries from sharp objects and medical waste.
Residents and businesses that require the removal of domestic refuse bags which must be transparent as per Waste Management Policy, must ahead of time contact Waste Management Services on (011) 951 2102/10 for a collection arrangement. Please note that such a request has cost implications.
Additional information for noting:
- Only 240l wheelie bins are to be placed on the kerb by 07h00am on the scheduled day of service.
- Customers that need additional 240l wheelie bins can collect at a fee from Coronation Park between 09h00am – 14h30pm, weekdays. Please bring along an account holder’s municipal account statement not older than 3 months in good standing and ID copy. If collecting on behalf of an account holder, the collector and account holder’s ID copies are required.
- Residents whose bins may have been missed by the collecting team are requested to keep bins inside their premises until the next collection date. We, however, urge such residents to inform their ward councilor or Waste Management Services of such an occurrence so it can be rectified.
- Residents and businesses are encouraged to correct the number of bins charged on their municipal account e.g. using 2 bins but only charged for 1.
