In response to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s directive, Mogale City’s Local Economic Development Services has commenced its Lokiša Kgwebo Ya Gago/ Qondis’ Ishishini Lakho/Fix Your Business/ Maak Reg Jou Besigheid campaign to address illegality prevalent in township and rural economies.

The campaign was launched this past Friday in Tarlton, featuring presentations from various government entities involved in the business registration process. The city’s Enterprise and Rural Development Division provided an overview of the business application, registration, and compliance processes, while Building Development Management outlined its role in assessing building premises for compliance.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) detailed its requirements and procedures for obtaining a tax clearance certificate, and the West Rand District Municipality highlighted its role in fire compliance certification and Certificate of Compliance processes. The Department of Home Affairs on the other hand addressed the critical topic of asylum seeker permits for locals leasing properties to legal foreign nationals with valid business visas.

The municipality strongly encourages all local business owners to attend these valuable information-sharing sessions. These sessions provide direct guidance from officials and an opportunity to ask questions, ensuring accurate information and reducing reliance on potentially misleading third-party sources.

Sessions, which all start at 10:00am are scheduled as follows:
