Following the implementation of mandated Level 1 restrictions across all Gauteng municipalities, Rand Water yesterday, 12 October 2024, announced a significant decline in water levels due to excessive withdrawals by municipalities.
With Level 1 restrictions put in place to avert a potential crisis, Rand Water has indicated that water supply levels across Gauteng, including within its reservoirs, are critically low. This situation is expected to worsen due to the ongoing heatwave. Furthermore, water storage could soon be depleted if municipalities do not comply with the restrictions.
In light of this, Mogale City appeals to all residents and businesses to adhere to Level 1 restrictions implemented by the city on 4 October 2024, to prevent the complete depletion of the system and avoid the need for stricter Water Conservation and Demand Management measures.
