On Saturday night, 12 October, a total power supply failure affected Rand Water’s Eikenhof Booster Station which is supplied by City Power. City Power technicians are still investigating the cause and an estimated time for restoration is not yet known.
This incident has negatively affected pumping at Eikenhof Pump Station and Mogale City reservoirs are likely to experience low water pressure. This will be further aggravated by increased water consumption due to the current heat wave.
The municipality will continue to communicate with Rand Water to determine the status of the power failure and expected remedial timelines.
We urge residents to meet our efforts halfway by complying with the set Level 1 water restrictions to ease pressure on an already strained city water network.
