Mogale City’s Department of Integrated Environmental Management assures residents who reside adjacent to the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site that the fire raging at the site is under control and receiving urgent attention.
The fire broke out at approximately 19:30pm yesterday and West Rand District Fire and Rescue team was immediately deployed on site to confine the fire from spreading. Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, efforts to secure specialised equipment to extinguish the fire started promptly this morning and the hard work to stub it out will ensue.
Considering current investigations, turnaround times to extinguish the fire cannot be provided at this point.
Integrated Environmental Management apologises to affected residents for the inconvenience caused and reassures them that the matter is receiving urgent attention.
