Mogale City’s Integrated Environmental Management recently partnered with EPR Waste Association of South Africa (eWASA) with the purpose of pushing forward and evaluating infrastructure, equipment and relevant resources for effective waste management and recycling projects in the city.
At the core of this partnership lies a shared commitment to mitigating the environmental impact of waste and promote sustainable practices within communities. This innovative partnership also promotes entrepreneurship in the recycling economy in addition to creating jobs and generating opportunities that uplift the youth, women and individuals living with disabilities in the waste management sector.
eWASA handed over a 40-foot recycling container alongside personal protective equipment, bulk bags, and waste picker trolleys to the Waste Management division. These resources will enhance the work of waste reclaimers and Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises in collaboration with the municipality at landfill sites, effectively elevating recycling rates and lessening waste directed to landfills.
Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment as well as various E-Waste companies and Mogale City office bearers were among attendees.
