In 2024, software that runs all prepaid water and electricity meters nationwide will expire. Without the upgrade, consumers will not be able to recharge their meters with new tokens and will be left without water or electricity.
In preparation for the phasing out of the old system, Mogale City will embark on a pre-paid metering software upgrade called TID Roll Over to comply with the required updates as of 18 September 2023. This upgrade initiative aims to address limitation of the old software and meter challenges currently encountered by consumers. Furthermore, the upgrade will introduce more ways for consumers to save as the new software presents advanced capabilities, improved safety and reliability, efficiency and power monitoring abilities.
Mogale City therefore urges residents that have access to this information to assist family members, friends and neighbours with updates where possible, especially the elderly and those living with disabilities.
