Following months of construction and unforeseen delays, Mogale City Local Municipality is pleased to inform members of the media, the public, commuters, taxi operators as well as businesses operating in the Central Business District (CBD) that the newly constructed Krugersdorp Taxi Rank is finally ready for public use.
In partnership with hawkers and local taxi associations, the municipality will on Wednesday, 1 February 2023 embark on a relocation process. This process entails moving taxis, commuters and all other taxi-related activities from the temporary taxi rank which was set up on Von Brandis Street opposite Kwik-Spar back to the newly constructed facility on the corners of Fountain and Pretoria Streets in the CBD. The temporary facility will cease to operate on the day of relocation.
The following destinations will be serviced at the new taxi rank: Kagiso Ext 12, Kagiso 3, Kagiso Ext 14, Kagiso 2, Joshua Door, Leratong, Munsieville, Honeydew, Key West, Silverstar, Kromdraai, Lion Park, Swaneville, Central Kagiso, Cradlestone, Lewisham, Tshepisong, Brits, Hekpoort, Mayibuye, Heuningklip and Muldersdrift.
The construction of the new taxi rank forms part of the municipality’s plans to regenerate the CBD and improve existing public transport facilities while working to expand public transport opportunities.
