Over the past few days, our Customer Care Centre has been inundated with enquiries from residents experiencing low water pressure or have no water supply. Water Services wishes to inform consumers that as a result of the recent heatwave which amplified water demand, our bulk suppliers’ (Rand Water and Johannesburg Water) reservoirs supplying water to Mogale City and other municipal areas have reached concerning low levels with limited supply to municipal water reservoirs and towers.
This regrettably has an immediate effect on the municipality’s water supply to consumers. Our bulk suppliers’ reservoir levels will first have to be restored before sufficient water can be supplied to Mogale City to restore its own reservoir levels.
Although we currently do not have an estimated time for recovery, water tankers have been made available to affected areas listed below:
- Luipaardsvlei
- Parts of Noordheuwel
- West Village
- Rant en Dal
- Munsieville, Delporten
- Kagiso
- Magaliesburg
- Parts of Muldersdrift
Should the situation not improve, more areas could be affected. We therefore urge residents and businesses to restrict water consumption to human and household use only to keep some taps running for longer. This means no irrigation of lawns, car washing, filling swimming pools or washing down pavement areas until water supply reaches the required levels.
We apologise for this inconvenience and ask for your patience and understanding during this period.
