Mogale City Local Municipality, represented by both the Executive Mayor’s Office and its Utilities Management Department today met with representatives from the Rand Water.
This urgent high-level meeting was to address the persistent water supply interruptions to Mogale City, affecting particularly residents of Munsieville, Dan Pienaarville, West Village, Kenmare and parts of Noordheuwel.
Although subject to confirmation of a Technical Report citing the root causes, Rand Water acknowledged that there were challenges at their Eikenhof and Vereeniging pump stations that feed the Mogale City reservoirs, which could be contributing to the to the water interruptions currently being experienced.
The technical report is due today on 13 September for submission to the Municipality.
The Executive Mayor’s Office cannot rule out sabotage by criminal elements that led to the unfortunate water interruptions and will therefore fully investigate this matter to avoid it from occurring in future.
While working to restore water supply to all affected areas continues, the Municipality will continue to provide water tankers to residents. Rand Water has also undertaken to work around the clock to restore water to the affected areas in the days to come.
We continue to apologize to the communities for this protracted inconvenience whilst doing our best to restore water before the end of the week as per the Rand Water commitment.
Lastly, all other residents are kindly requested to continue using water sparingly to allow for the reservoirs to fill up.
