Mogale City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Francis Makgatho together with the Speaker of Council Noluthando Mangole heeded the President’s call and led the inaugural Vooma Vaccination Weekend campaign in Chief Mogale, Kagiso.

Joined by local health workers, Councillor Mangole embarked on a door-to-door social campaign to encourage residents in the area to visit the Chief Mogale Hall vaccination site and get their jab.

In her speech, the Speaker urged locals to form part of at least half a million people that the government aims to vaccinate this week, en route to achieving the national vaccination rate of 70% of the adult population by the end of the year.

“Let us go out there and encourage our people to use this big opportunity to vaccinate. Let us remind and assure them that vaccines are safe, and they are the country’s best defence against a possible fourth wave of Covid-19 infections,” said Mangole while addressing local health workers.

To the delight of the Speaker, Chief Mogale residents showed great vigilance and social solidarity by supporting the campaign to get their families and friends vaccinated.

This is the first Vooma Vaccination Weekend in a series of outreaches under this banner to mobilise communities to stay safe by being vaccinated. Leaders from all sectors of society are out in various communities to encourage those that have not vaccinated to receive their jabs this weekend.

REMEMBER: STAY SAFE, VACCINATE, PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS FROM COVID-19.
