In a bid to grow entrepreneurship in the West Rand, a number of government funding platforms have been made more accessible to informal, micro, and small enterprises, including cooperatives and individuals in the West Rand.

This was announced by Department of Small Business Development (DSDB) Director Mhlanganisi Masoga while addressing over 80 local entrepreneurs in a Township and Rural Entrepreneurship Programme (TREP) workshop hosted by DSDB in partnership with West Rand District Municipality at Centenary Hall in Mogale City. The aim of the workshops scheduled to run from 14 – 16 October in Mogale City, is to expose local SMMEs and co-operatives to the TREP offerings and to assist them to access these offerings.

Masoga said DSDB like many other agencies, is mobilising all its resources to reach out to entrepreneurs that will be assisted with business development services, access to markets, structured finance and support to meet appropriate compliance requirements in the manufacturing, retail and personal care sectors.

Throughout the workshop, Small Enterprise Development Agency and Small Enterprise Financial Agency presented their services whilst businesses of all sizes had an opportunity to acquire management and financial advice in order to enhance their capacity and improve their services.

Also in attendance was Mogale City’s LED and Rural Development MMC Peter Moeketsi who encouraged local entrepreneurs to use the information and guidance acquired from the workshop to not only enhance their businesses but to also boost and grow the rural and township economies.

The series of workshops will be extended to Munsieville in Mogale City, Rand West and Merafong Municipalities.
