As of 1 April 2018, a new grants payment system that allows for social grants to be paid through South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Postbank, commercial banks and merchants came into place.
Cash payments will continue to be paid by Cash Paymaster Service for the next six months ending 30 September 2018.
However, social grant beneficiaries must note the following:
1. SASSA cards are still valid until 31 December 2018.
2. Swap your existing SASSA card for a new one from 1 April to 30 September 2018 at your nearest Post Office, SASSA office or designated venue.
3. You may choose to receive your social grant through your own SASSA account or personal bank account, including Postbank. Cash payments will be phased out in the future.
4. Contact your Community Development Worker, Traditional Leader, Councillor, Faith leader or nearest SASSA office for more information.
