Mogale City’s Human Settlement and Real Estate Administration Division in partnership with Gauteng Department of Human Settlements’ Ntirhisano Outreach Programme recently handed over 30 title deeds to the community of Apple Park in Krugersdorp West.
The programme forms part of the Title Deeds Distribution campaign which aims to ensure effective service delivery to the people.
In her opening remarks, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements Annah Setswalo-Moja urged beneficiaries to protect their title deeds as it is the only legal document that verifies that they are home owners. “We as Mogale City Local Municipality are proud that the residents of Apple Park who have waited patiently for their title deeds have eventually received them. We also want our people to note that these title deeds are meant to restore their dignity and also plead that they not sell the deeds as it is their security to a home for themselves and children,” she said.
The Title Deeds Distribution Campaign is part of government’s plan to eradicate the title deeds distribution backlog and to issue pre-and-post 1994 outstanding title deeds to beneficiaries. It acts as proof of ownership in terms of the Deeds Registries Act 47 of 1937, with each property required to have its own separate deed. The document contains all the necessary details and important information about the property such as a comprehensive description and exact size.
