Mogale City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Patrick Lipudi officially turned the soil to commence the refurbishment of Sinqobile Early Child Development Centre (ECDC). The sod turning ceremony was held earlier today (10 March 2018) at Sinqobile in Kagiso.
Speaking at the sod turning ceremony, the executive mayor said the refurbishment was informed by the current state of the centre which does not comply with minimum standards for child-care centres.
“The building in its current state, does not comply with minimum standards for places of care for children. The municipality made a commitment to parents when the facility was closed in 2016 that it will ensure the restoration of the ECDC and thus provide children of Sinqobile with a solid foundation for learning and a centre that is safe and conducive to children’s development,” said the executive mayor.
Mogale City Community Development Services under the tutelage of Executive Manager Advocate Ashmar Khuduge have, through Supply Chain Management processes, entrusted the upgrade to Morad Consulting Engineers and Khaselihle Construction as the main project implementers to upgrade the centre.
The completion of the centre will see a new administration block, additional classrooms, extension of the kitchen, ablution facilities for children, pavement and parking area, to mention a few of the key developments.
Ward Councillor Nelly Ngakane and Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Health, and Social Development, Councillor Evodia Cindi ran with the programme and ensured that the event was a success.
