Beware of ongoing scams
It has come to Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) attention that unauthorised individuals are advertising fraudulent employment offers on Gumtree under the municipality’s brand asking for upfront payments.
The municipality would like to make the public aware that these employment offers are fraudulent as MCLM only advertises vacant positions in targeted national newspapers and on the municipal website www.mogalecity.gov.za. As a government entity, the municipality does not ask for fees or upfront payments during the recruitment process.
Similarly, the public is urged not to offer money to any employee or any person who claims to be an employee of the municipality be it to buy an RDP house, purchase a piece of land or for the connection of services such as water or electricity. Payments in respect of municipality services should be made at designated MCLM premises by MCLM cashiers where a valid receipt will be issued.
If you are approached by an individual or agency that attempts to solicit a fee or come across employment offers that are issued outside the norms and procedures of the municipality’s processes, we urge you to contact our Corporate Ethics Division on (011) 951 2595 or (011) 668 0712.
