Mogale City Local Municipality hereby notifies consumers that tariff hikes came into effect on 1 July 2016, to mark the beginning of the municipal financial year.
The increase will reflect on consumers’ accounts at the end of this month.
2016/2017 tariffs increase summary:
• Electricity increased by 7.64%
• Sanitation increased by 11.9%
• Water increased by 11.9%
• Property tax increased by 6.9%
• Refuse increased by 6.9%
• Service deposit increased by 6.9%
• All municipality services excluding the ones above increased by 6%
In order to align categories of ownership for property rates purposes to the Municipal Property Rates Act as amended, property rates for the following categories of owners have been re-categorised as follows in the 2016/2017 financial year:
• For Sectional Title Industrial properties, the Industrial tariff of R0.02768 is applicable
• For Sectional Title Residential properties, the Residential tariff of R0.01384 and rebates thereon will apply.
• For Sectional Title Business properties, the Commercial tariff of R0.02768 will be applicable
• For Educational Institutions, the Public Benefit Organisation tariff of R0.01384 and rebate thereon will apply.
