The month of July, has become over the years known as Mandela Month. 18 July was officially declared Nelson Mandela International Day by the United Nations in November 2009.
On Mandela Day, people are called on to devote 67 minutes of their time to change the world for the better, in a small gesture of solidarity with humanity, and in a small step towards a continuous, global movement for good.
The late Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life to the struggle for social justice. Mogale City Local Municipality therefore encourages all communities, individuals and businesses to donate 67 minutes of their day to doing something good in their communities.
