Mogale City Executive Mayor, Lynn Pannall, urges the residents of the city to celebrate diversity on Heritage Day tomorrow.
“The City of Human Origin has a rich heritage of human evolution. As we celebrate this heritage, we also need to embrace different cultures,” said the Executive Mayor.
The municipality holds various cultural activities during this month with a view to spreading awareness and to showcase different cultural practices. These include music and dance, display of cultural artefacts and traditional food. The activities, targeted largely at young people, help the municipality to impart knowledge as well as address the tension between tradition and modernity – linking the past, the present and the future.
“Our constitution enjoins us to view each other through an intercultural lens which means that we need to promote tolerance for each other’s culture, religion and language,” the Executive Mayor added.
