President Jacob Zuma has announced the date for the 2016 South African municipal elections. The date has been set for 3 August 2016 for all district and local municipalities in all nine provinces.
Municipal elections are held every five years to elect councillors who will be responsible for governing a municipality for the next five years.
It is important for all South African citizens to exercise the right to vote.
