102 year old Masefrapi Sanna Molefe could not hide her joy when Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and Human Settlement Uhuru Moiloa visited her home and presented her with a much-awaited title deed.

Molefe is one of Gauteng Provincial Government’s Thuma Mina Title Deeds Programme beneficiaries through which the Office of the Premier together with municipalities are tasked with the responsibility of handing over title deeds to deserving beneficiaries.

Addressing residents of Reitvallei 2 and 3 where MEC Moiloa handed over 400 title deeds, Mogale City Executive Mayor Patrick Lipudi applauded the provincial government for stepping up service delivery.

MEC Uhuru Moiloa hands over a title deed to Reitvallei’s oldest resident Masefrapi Sanna Molefe

This was the MEC’s second visit to Mogale City this year. In June, MEC Moiloa visited Munsieville and issued 420 title deeds.

Councillor Lipudi said the handover of title deeds is an indication that Mogale City and the provincial government are well on track in restoring dignity to historically disadvantaged communities.

“We are grateful to the MEC and his team for visiting our city twice in less than three months. Promises that were made during our last IDP roadshows were not just self-serving, this handover is an indication that we are true to our words,”Councillor Lipudi said.

He also cautioned residents about selling their title deeds. “While we appreciate the work done by province, we want to warn beneficiaries to look after their title deeds and keep them safe. Government is facing serious challenges where you find family members fighting over the ownership of title deeds.

“This has gone as far as family members taking their fights to the courts. These title deeds are meant to restore your dignity through security for you and your children- do not sell them.”

Members of the Mayoral Committee Anna Setswalo-Moja, Betty Mdlane, Peter Moeketsi together with Ward Councillors Azwindini Mutele and Rabatho Mokotla graced the occasion.

West Rand District Municipality’s Infrastructure and Human Settlement MMC Diteko Moreotsenye was also in attendance.
