Mogale City Energy Services is upgrading outdated analog electricity meters to advanced digital smart meters. So far, installations have been completed in Rangeview Extension 4 and Noordheuwel Extension 4.

Residents in these areas are requested to collect their Customer Interface Units (CIUs) from the Energy Services offices at the Civic Centre. The CIU is an essential device that will be connected to homes, allowing residents to:

  • Monitor electricity consumption,
  • Take electricity readings, and
  • Submit readings to the billing department monthly.

Customers must upload their meter readings via the “My Municipal Meter” platform, introduced in December 2024. Readings should be submitted between the 1st and 3rd week of each month to ensure timely processing. However, if a submission is delayed, it can still be uploaded until the last day of the month by 12:00 midday.

To maintain a consistent 30-day billing cycle, customers should submit readings on the same date every month. This helps mitigate delays caused by unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, staff absence from work or emergencies.

For customers who are unable to use the app—especially elderly residents without assistance—readings can still be submitted via email to the following employees:
